Testing Information

Testing

Rich Mountain Community College accepts ACT and SAT scores for placement purposes. RMCC offers the ASSET and/or the COMPASS test to students who do not have ACT or SAT scores. The ASSET, or the COMPASS test, is used to determine the best placement for students in Reading, English, and Mathematics courses. The CAAP test is required for degree completion (and by the Arkansas Dept. of Higher Education) at RMCC. CAAP scores, when compared to entry scores, provide RMCC with the opportunity to measure student learning. RMCC administers the PSB test to prospective Practical Nursing students. RMCC also proctors exams for on-line and correspondence courses taken from other institutions. There is a $15 fee charged for each non-RMCC exam proctored. For more information about testing at RMCC please contact the Director of Student Assessment at (479) 394-7622 ext.1430.

Student Outcomes Assessment

Act 98 of 1989 requires RMCC to administer an assessment program to evaluate student learning. This assessment is conducted each year to determine educational growth in RMCC's general education core curriculum. RMCC uses the results of the assessments to determine if the institution's mission, goals, and educational objectives are being reached and to make revisions where deemed needed.

Advance Placement Exam Criteria

The Advanced Placement (AP) Program of the College Entrance Examination Board gives students the opportunity to pursue college-level studies while still in high school and, with an appropriate score on an AP exam, to receive advance placement and/or credit upon entering the college. The AP examinations are offered annually by high schools who participate in this program. Rich Mountain Community College departments have authorized credit and/or placement for students who present qualifying scores in the following AP courses. Credit will be awarded after a student successfully completes a minimum of 12 hours credit with a 2.00 GPA or better at RMCC.
