Services
Student Support Services is a Title IV TRIO Project funded by the United States Department of Education. SSS offers a variety of services designed to help students enter and graduate from college. Services are FREE to qualified students..
Messages:
Students: Good Luck on your Finals! During Finals Week, May 7- May 13, go by the SSS Offices in Mena or Waldron and receive free pencils, coffee, and candy. While you are there, remember to turn in any SSS calculators, books, and other materials which you checked out. Thanks and good luck!
Who is Eligible?
Students are eligible to apply for SSS if they are: ü First-generation college student and/or ü Eligible for financial assistance and/or ü Physically handicapped and/or ü Demonstrate an academic need for services
Student Support Services Can Help You:
v Improve study skills v Increase career awareness v Enrich your background v Meet New Students v Get to know faculty v Survive in college v Successfully transfer to a four-year institution v Prepare resumes and letters to obtain employment v Make career decisions
What Services are Available?
v Computer Lab Ø Up-to-date networked computers with access to the internet Ø Software available in academic areas of study Ø Lab Coordinator available to instruct and assist
v Tutoring Ø Peer tutors who are recommended by academic advisors and instructors Ø Professional tutors in math, English, social studies, business, computer science, and others
v Videos Ø Study skills Ø Test taking skills Ø Test aniexty Ø Job seeking skills Ø Math videos to supplement tests
v Other Services Ø Handouts and notes from various academic classes for use in SSS facilities Ø Variety of study skills, personality, and learning style assessment tools Ø A computerized scholarship search program
v Transfer Counseling and Assistance Ø Group and individual visits to other College campuses Ø Aid for completing all forms necessary for transfer to four-year institutions Ø Appointments with advisors, financial aid counselor, and or other offices at transferring institutions
