Upward Bound Classic is a pre-college program for high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors to prepare them for education beyond high school. UBCL seeks to assist students who demonstrate an academic potential for higher education and who meet federal income guidelines and students whose parents do not have a bachelor’s degree. Who is Eligible for Services?
To receive free services, a student must
Show a strong interest in preparing for and attending college
Be enrolled in public school in Montgomery, Polk, or Scott county
Meet qualification guidelines
Show a willingness to commit to the program
No cost exists to participate in UBCL or UBMS. Both programs are funded 100% by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

Schedule of Activities
Weekly sessions - Students meet after school one hour per week with UB staff. Students can expect the following activities:
Character building and personal assessments
Academic guidance/study skills
College admissions assistance
Financial aid assistance
Saturday Workshops - Both UBLC and UBMS meet approximately two Saturdays per month. Students can expect the following activities:Tutoring Services - Free tutoring services are available at each student's school.
Educational and cultural trips
ACT tests junior/senior year
Tutoring Services - Free tutoring services are available at each student's school.
Summer Academy - Rising 9th –11th graders participate in a six-week summer program to prepare for the following academic year. Students will have the opportunity to attend campus tours as well.
Rising 12th grade students and graduates typically have the opportunity to enroll in college coursework.
