Construction Updates

RMCC Construction Projects Underway

RMCC’s current construction projects are causing the College to make temporary changes on the Mena campus with regard to the back parking lot and also entry into the Maddox Building.

The amphitheatre, funded by an Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Council grant, is progressing and should be complete in mid-November. The courtyard renovation behind Maddox Building just started and is slated to take 90 days to complete. The courtyard work is necessary to correct water damage issues to the building, but will also bring a new look to the back entrance of the College.

During the courtyard project, entry through the back doors of the Maddox Building is closed for safety reasons, therefore the doors at the end of the building next to the LPN classroom or the front doors are the available entrances. Temporary sidewalks leading around the edge of the campus driveway provide safe entrance from the back parking area to available doors.

Entry into the back parking lot is temporarily from Morrow Street, and exit is through the front parking lot onto College Drive. Making the driveway one way is necessary to provide pedestrians a safe walking area, and signs are being posted to assist with the temporary traffic patterns. Entry and exit for parking in front of campus remains the same.

In addition to the outside projects, the renovation of the tower room is scheduled to begin soon.

Construction Update:
The courtyard work is moving right along, including the sidewalks behind Maddox being closed for safety reasons.
Please avoid entry and exit through any of the back doors of Maddox. A temporary walkway is provided around the back drive from the doors by nursing to the back parking lot.
Be careful as you follow the one way traffic pattern in the back when driving your vehicle. There are a few folks driving into the oncoming traffic - defensive driving skills are important! The temporary traffic in the back enters by machine tool (from Morrow) and exits to the front of the building onto College Drive.
Entry and exit for the front parking lot is normal, however if you are in the front parking lot and want to go to the back parking lot, you need to get back on the street and go around to enter the proper way to reach the back.
Confused??? Don’t worry because there are signs to assist you in following the temporary requirements as we try to keep everyone safe.
The foreman of the courtyard project has stressed the need to keep all pedestrians out of the work area. Please work with us on this request.
People are parking vehicles at the lpn entrance of Maddox in a no parking (loading only) area. Please refrain from parking there.
Thanks for your continued assistance in making sure students, employees, and visitors are safe as we progress with our construction projects.
