Leadership Polk County

	Leadership Polk County Participants 2010-11

Leadership Polk County (LPC) is a county-wide leadership program facilitated by Rich Mountain Community College.  Two classes completed the program since its creation. 

A “Second Year Experience” for alumni of Leadership Polk County (LPC) was conducted in Spring 2010.   Participants for Class III have now been chosen and will meet one day a month September 2010 through June 2011.    The 31 alumni of LPC formed an alumni association  and serve as an advisory group in the planning and implementation of the program.

Mission

Leadership Polk County, a comprehensive leadership development program, introduces participants to a variety of leadership styles and opportunities that will develop their leadership abilities for personal and community growth.  This program will broaden participants’ knowledge of the region, foster new ideas, and provide in-depth, accurate information.

Goals

The goals of Leadership Polk County are to

• To celebrate what is right with Polk County
• To acquaint participants with the dynamics of leadership
• To provide a forum for participants to become knowledgeable of the many civic, economic, social, educational, and recreational services and programs that exist in our community
• To allow participants to investigate and become familiar with the responsibilities associated with positions of leadership
• To explore the needs and concerns of the area
• To encourage participants to become more involved
• To prepare participants to accept leadership roles within the community
• To provide participants a network of individuals committed to doing their best for Polk County
• To provide participants with the tools to develop a vision for the future
